Tips For Caring for Your Western Boots in the Winter

It’s the season of ugly weather and regardless of whether it’s rain or snow, moisture can wreck havoc on the snowycowinvestment you have made in your premium western boots. Here are Five Steps for Western Boot Care so you can preserve your investment and extend the life of your boots!

  • Step One – If your boots get wet, let them air dry naturally. Do not put them on a heating vent or other heat source. Putting them on a heat source will dry the leather too quickly and make it difficult to re-hydrate.
  • Step Two – If you have a question, feel free to call us! We have several products that can help clean and re-hydrate your boots. For instance: Bick 4, Underwood’s Australian All Natural Conditioner, or Delicate Cream which is a shoe product that is primarily Carnuba Wax.
  • Step Three – If you have a boot with a leather sole, it is very important to add Pure Neatfoot’s Oil to the sole itself on a regular basis. This will greatly increase the wearability of the soles of your boots.
  • Step Four – Adding baby powder on a daily basis will significantly increase the longevity of your boots. Baby powder will reduce the friction on the inside of your boot, increasing the life of the lining of your boot.
  • Step Five – And finally your last, regular step in the Western boot care process is using an aerosol leather Water and Stain Repellant. This should be used weekly on your boots.
